Stabbursnes and Lille Porsangen

Stabbursnes Nature Reserve on the shore of Lille Porsangen in Finnmark protects one of Norway's most important wetlands for migratory birds. Established in 1983 and designated a Ramsar site in 1985, the 16-square-kilometre reserve straddles both sides of the Stabburselva river outlet, encompassing some of the country's largest contiguous shallow-water areas. Researchers have recorded 23 species of ducks, including six goose species, and 25 species of wading birds here. The Stabbursnes Nature House and Museum nearby serves as a visitor center for both the reserve and the adjacent Stabbursdalen National Park, which protects the world's northernmost pine forest.
