Ytrøy is a stop on the post boat from Hardbakke, home of Solundmat. They produce what many consider the best fenalår in Norway.
Fenalår is cured leg of lamb, salted and dried for months. It is one of the more serious Norwegian cured meats and it's not cheap.
During summer season Solundmat opens their factory shop, so passengers can get off the boat for a short stop and actually buy some to take home. Outside of summer, the stop is quick and the shop may not be open.
One trick is to bring cash or a card that works offline, just in case. And don't expect much infrastructure: this is a small island with a single jetty.
