Merdøgaard is a small coastal farm museum on the car-free island of Merdø, a short ferry ride from Pollen in Arendal. The main building dates from 1736 and is preserved as it looked around 1800. Merdø appears on Dutch maritime maps from the 1580s and was one of the most important outports along the Skagerrak, with a customs station, pilot station, and school. The museum is Sørlandet's best-preserved skipper's home. Guided tours only in summer.
