Hausvik Fort

Hausvik fort is a German World War II coastal defence installation on the east side of the entrance to Rosfjorden. The Germans built it to control access to the fjord and the approach to Lyngdal.

The site includes bunkers, gun emplacements, tunnels, gangways and a command bunker, spread across the headland. Most structures are still intact and accessible on foot. The concrete and steel are slowly being reclaimed by the coastal landscape, making it an atmospheric place to explore.

Norway's southern coast is dotted with similar German fortifications from the occupation, but Hausvik is one of the better preserved examples. There is no entrance fee or opening hours; you just walk in. Allow about 45 minutes to explore the main bunkers and enjoy the view over Rosfjorden.
