Nordberg Fort on the Lista peninsula is considered the best-preserved German coastal fortress in Norway. Built by the occupying forces as part of the Atlantic Wall and fully operational by 1942, the site retains not just the concrete bunkers and gun positions common to other fortifications, but also original wooden barracks, trenches connecting the positions, and three 150mm naval cannons with a range of 23 kilometres. A museum opened in 2009 with exhibitions, a cafe, and rotating art shows. You can walk freely through the trenches and bunkers.
