Travellers have been stopping at Breistølen Fjellstue since 1843. Breistølen sits at 1030 metres, roughly midway between Hemsedal and Lærdal. In 1891 it became an official skysstasjon - a public transport station where you could change horses and get a meal.
The Evensen family has run the place since 1959. It's on DNT's classic hiking route from Jotunheimen through Skarvheimen to Finse. From here you can do day hikes to Suletind, Høgeloft or Eikishorn.
Check ahead if the café is open - it's not always.
