St. Thomas Church sits at 1,100 metres above sea level on Fillefjell, making it one of Norway's highest mountain churches. This small wooden church from 1971 replaced an earlier chapel that served travellers crossing between eastern and western Norway. The location might seem odd, but this route has been used for centuries.

The church holds summer services for hikers and tourists passing through. The building itself is quite simple, but the setting is remarkable. Be aware that weather conditions can change quickly at this altitude. From here you can see across the vast mountain plateau. It's a peaceful stop if you're driving the scenic route.
