Sporveismuseet

60 minutes
The Sporveismuseet, Oslo's Public Transport Museum, is tucked away in Majorstuen, housed in an old tram depot. To find it, walk from the Majorstuen tram junction and follow the single track line westwards; the museum entrance is on the far side of the building, away from the tracks.

Inside you will find a collection of old trams, metro cars and buses that tell the story of public transport in Oslo from the horse-drawn trams of the 1870s to the modern era. What sets this museum apart from similar collections elsewhere is that you can actually climb into most of the vehicles, sit in the driver's seat, and explore the interiors. This makes it particularly popular with children, who tend to spend more time playing conductor than reading the information panels.

The museum is small and run by volunteers. It is open Saturday to Tuesday from 11:00 to 15:00, which makes it easy to miss if you are not aware of the limited hours.
