Norsk Skogmuseum sits on the banks of the Glomma, Norway's longest river, and covers everything that lives and works in the Norwegian forest. Indoor galleries trace centuries of logging, hunting, trapping, and fishing through tools, photographs, and full-scale reconstructions. Downstairs, freshwater aquariums hold species from the Glomma watershed, including trout, grayling, and the elusive river pearl mussel.

Outdoors, historical buildings and equipment show how timber was felled, floated downstream, and processed into planks and pulp. Forestry shaped Østerdalen for centuries, and this is where the full story comes together, from medieval charcoal burning to modern sustainable harvesting. The museum is part of the Anno museum network, which also runs Glomdalsmuseet, one of Norway's largest open-air museums, just across town.
