This 46-metre-high concrete arch dam at the southern end of Juvatn was the highest dam of its kind in Northern Europe when it was completed in 1958. It is a combination bow-and-plate design, built by the construction firm Betongbygg from Kristiansand. The reservoir behind it holds 142 million cubic metres of water, regulated between 513 and 489 metres above sea level.
The dam is part of the Logna power system in Åseral. Water flows from Juvatn through a five-kilometre tunnel, dropping 154 metres to the Logna power station at Svartevatn. The plant produces 105 GWh per year, enough to supply about 5,250 households. It is owned by Agder Energi.
