Byglandsfjorden: A 34-Kilometre Lake Through the Valley

120 minutes
Byglandsfjorden stretches 34 kilometres through the Setesdal valley, a long, clear lake with sandy beaches and steep valley walls rising on both sides. The wood-fired steamboat SS Bjoren, dating from 1866, runs Sunday cruises in summer between the villages along the shore. Swimming spots, fishing for trout and the local bleke salmon, and kayaking are the main activities. Hang gliding and paragliding are also popular from the surrounding hillsides.
