Geitungen Lighthouse

📍 Landmark Island Haugalandet

Geitungen Lighthouse

30 minutes
Geitungen lighthouse sits on a small island about one kilometre off the southern tip of Karmøy, guiding ships into Skudefjorden and across the North Sea. It is visible from the coast near Skudeneshavn.

The lighthouse has been in operation since 1924 and was automated in 1987. The island is not accessible to the public by regular transport, but the lighthouse is a distinctive sight from the shore, especially in rough weather when waves crash against the rocks around it.

If you are driving along the southern coast of Karmøy, you will spot it out to sea. It is a reminder of how exposed this coastline is to the open North Sea.
