Bjørnåsen

90 minutes
Bjørnåsen is a viewpoint on the Hurum peninsula, and it is probably the farthest point from Oslo where you can still see the city. On a clear day, you get a panorama toward Kongsberg and Norefjell in the west, Holmenkollen and the Oslofjord with Håøya to the north, and toward Mysen and Sweden to the east. Drøbak and Oscarsborg fortress are visible across the water.

The top is an old setervoll (dairy pasture) belonging to Nordre Grønsand farm. There is a yellow cabin and a bonfire area where it is nice to sit and enjoy the view. Grønsand Gjestegård operates nearby.

The easiest way is by car. Park at the Myrvold parking area at the end of Grønsandveien, past Grønsand guest house, a tennis club, and a farm. From the barrier, follow the forest road. When you reach a small lake, turn right after it and continue to the top. The road is not steep, so you can also cycle.

By public transport: take bus 250 from Oslo bus terminal, change to bus 260 in Sætre, and get off at Storsandtoppen. From there follow Grønsandveien about 1.3 km to the parking area, then continue on the forest road.

In winter there is a cross-country ski track right to the top, so it is accessible year-round.

Only worth the trip on clear days. The whole point is the view.
