The first bridge at this crossing over the Glomma was built in 1736. It was rebuilt in 1859, and that structure was reconstructed in 1997. What makes it remarkable is the engineering: a clear span of 32 metres, the largest of its kind in the country when it was built. The bridge sits about 1.5 kilometres north of Tolga centre on Route 30 and is a striking piece of timber construction across Norway's longest river.
