Synshorn is a 1,475 metre peak between Lake Bygdin and Lake Vinstre. It's one of the most popular hikes in the Beitostølen area. The trail starts near Bygdin Fjellhotell and takes about two hours up. It's not technically difficult, but it does get busy.
From the top you look straight across to Bitihorn on the other side of Bygdin, and into the high peaks of Jotunheimen to the north.
If you want something more exciting, there's a via ferrata up the steep east face. It opened in 2015, with an additional more challenging route added in 2020. You don't need climbing experience, just reasonable fitness and no fear of heights. The guided climb takes 3-4 hours and covers 400 metres of elevation. Minimum age is 12.
