Steinberg in Vestre Toten is a remarkably preserved district governor's estate from the early 1800s. Sorenskriver Lauritz Weidemann and his wife Ditlevine took over the farm in 1802 and built it up as it stands today, with 13 farm buildings, an elaborate garden, two kilometers of stone fences, farmland and a private graveyard. The buildings were protected in 1924, and Toten Museumslag purchased the entire estate in 1934. The park has seen no major changes since the mid-1800s, with its long stone walls, tree-lined avenues and a separate lovers' path still intact. It developed into one of Norway's first ecomuseums.
