Øvre Eidfjord is the last village before the climb to Hardangervidda. Here you'll find Norsk Natursenter Hardanger - the official visitor centre for Hardangervidda National Park.
The centre opened in 1995 and was completely renovated in 2018. Three floors of exhibitions cover 2.9 billion years of Norwegian geology, wildlife, and climate. The highlight is a panorama cinema with a 21-metre curved screen showing drone footage across the Hardanger landscape.
Good place to stop if you're travelling with children. Restaurant next door.
