Månafossen is Rogaland's highest waterfall at 92 meters. It sits along the river Månaåna, about 6 kilometers east of Frafjord village in a side valley south of the Lysefjord.
The waterfall is reached by a short hike from the parking area, roughly 20 to 30 minutes uphill. The trail is well-marked but can be steep and slippery near the top. A viewpoint at the base gives you the full drop, and it is possible to continue up past the waterfall to the plateau above.
Månafossen is on the scenic approach road if you are driving from Stavanger towards Kjerag via Dirdal and Gilja. It makes a good stopping point on that drive. The waterfall is most impressive in spring and early summer when snowmelt feeds it.
