Kongens Utsikt - The King's View

20 minutes
Kongens Utsikt sits 484 metres above Tyrifjorden and Steinsfjorden, offering one of the best panoramic views in the region. On clear days you can see all the way to Gaustatoppen in Telemark.

The viewpoint is named after King Karl Johan who visited in 1832. A platform was built shortly after his visit.

You can reach it by hiking up Krokkleiva from Sundvollen, the old Bergen King's Road from 1793. The climb is about 400 metres over steep terrain. If you prefer an easier option, drive up to Kleivstua and walk the last 20-30 minutes on a marked path. The road to Kleivstua is a toll road.

There are actually three viewpoints in the area: Kongens Utsikt, Dronningens Utsikt (the Queen's View), and Kronprinsens Utsikt (the Crown Prince's View) at 395 metres.
