Kistefos stands as one of Scandinavia's most fascinating cultural destinations, combining Norway's industrial heritage with cutting-edge contemporary art. Located near Jevnaker, this former wood pulp mill from 1889 has been transformed into an extraordinary museum and sculpture park spanning 43 hectares along the rushing Randselva river.

The site's crown jewel is "The Twist," an architectural marvel that functions both as a bridge and gallery space, dramatically twisting across the river like a piece of modern sculpture. This stunning building has earned international acclaim and houses rotating contemporary art exhibitions. Throughout the grounds, visitors can explore over 50 contemporary sculptures by renowned artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Anish Kapoor, and Tony Cragg.

The industrial museum preserves the original machinery and buildings, offering fascinating insights into Norway's wood pulp industry and the lives of the workers who operated the mill. The park seamlessly blends nature, history, and art, with well-maintained paths winding through forest and riverside landscapes.

Visitors can enjoy guided tours, participate in educational programs, or simply wander independently among the sculptures. The on-site café offers local refreshments with scenic river views. Kistefos is open from May to October, with the most vibrant period being summer when the surrounding nature is in full bloom. The combination of industrial heritage, world-class architecture, and contemporary art makes this a must-visit destination for culture enthusiasts and casual visitors alike, even children like it.
