Hengjanefossen

💧 Waterfall Fjord Ryfylke

Hengjanefossen

10 minutes
Hengjanefossen is a waterfall on the north shore of the Lysefjord, dropping approximately 400 meters from the cliff above. It is one of the tallest waterfalls in the fjord and the most visible from the water.

The waterfall is best seen from the Lysefjord cruise boats, which pass close to the cliff face. There is no road access and no easy hiking trail to the base. On calm days, some cruise operators bring the boat close enough to feel the spray.

The waterfall is seasonal. In late summer it can be reduced to a thin stream, but in spring and after heavy rain it is impressive.
