Grua is a small village in Lunner municipality where the Rv4 passes through on its way north to Hadeland. The place has a longer industrial history than its quiet appearance suggests: the Grua mining district was once active with iron and mineral workings in the hills around the village, part of the wider mining activity that dotted the forests between Oslo and Hadeland.
Today Grua is a stop on the Gjøvikbanen railway, and the line passes through the Grua railway tunnel just north of the station. The village sits at the transition between the Oslo commuter belt and the rural Hadeland landscape that opens up further north.
