Furedalen Alpin

180 minutes
This is Furedalen Alpin, the older and smaller of the two ski centres up here. It opened in 1963, when this was still farmland where local farmers came to cut hay for winter fodder.

It's more family-oriented than Eikedalen - 3 kilometres of slopes, 3 lifts, lower elevation between 364 and 589 metres. Good for beginners and families with children.

Furedalen sits on Kvamskogen proper, which is in Kvam municipality. Eikedalen is actually in Samnanger. That municipal boundary explains why the two resorts never merged despite being just a few kilometres apart.

On busy winter weekends, over 30,000 people visit this plateau. The cross-country tracks alone stretch to 90 kilometres.
