Fantahålå

10 minutes
Fantahålå, the Vagabond's Cave, is a large rock overhang on the south side of the Lysefjord, not far from Forsand. It appears as a dark fissure in the cliff face, visible from the cruise boats that pass through the fjord.

The cave gets its name from the fantar, vagabonds or outlaws who are said to have hidden here. The overhang is large enough for several people to shelter under, and it would have been nearly impossible to reach from above or below without a boat.

Some cruise operators stop briefly so passengers can get a closer look. It is not accessible on foot without serious climbing.
