On 23rd December 1972, Braathens SAFE Flight 239 crashed in these dense forests near Asker. The aircraft was flying from Ålesund to Oslo when it went down at 16:33, killing all 40 people aboard.

There is a small monument at Myggheim. Most visitors simply pause here on the road to remember the tragedy. The crash led to major changes in Norwegian aviation safety.
