Known as the Niagara of the North, Åmotan is the dramatic meeting point where rivers from six different valleys converge in a thundering spectacle of water and spray.
Lindalsfossen drops 110 metres in free fall into the gorge, while Svøufallet cascades 313 metres down the mountainside and is ranked among the world's 100 tallest waterfalls. In late spring and early summer, when snowmelt swells the rivers, the combined force of water is immense.
The waterfalls are accessible from Highway 70 via Gjøra. A short walk from the parking area leads to viewpoints where you can feel the mist on your face. The area is part of Sunndal municipality's network of marked trails.
