Vestkapp on the Stadlandet peninsula is mainland Norway's westernmost mountain plateau, rising 496 meters above Stadhavet, one of the most exposed stretches of sea along the Norwegian coast. A narrow, steep road winds up Kjerringa with hairpin turns that reveal increasingly dramatic views at each bend. On clear days the panorama stretches from the Sunnmøre Alps in the north to Mount Hornelen and the Ålfotbreen glacier in the south. The Vestkapp restaurant at the top has large windows facing the open Atlantic. Weather here can shift from brilliant sunshine to dense fog within minutes.
