Tromsø Lufthavn Langnes

✈️ Airport Urban Troms

Tromsø Lufthavn Langnes

1 minutes
Tromsø airport is unusually close to the city centre, just 5 km away. The bus takes 15 minutes, a taxi about 10. There is no rail connection.

The airport has direct flights to Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, and several northern Norwegian cities. In winter, there are also some direct charter flights from European cities. SAS, Norwegian, and Widerøe are the main airlines.

The airport is small and easy to navigate. One terminal, short distances. The main nuisance is weather: fog, snow, and wind cause frequent delays and cancellations in winter. If you are catching a connecting flight, leave a generous buffer. Rental car offices are in the terminal building.

Because the airport sits in the middle of the city, the entire island of Tromsøya, plus parts of Kvaløya, Håkøya, and Tromsdalen, falls inside the 5 km no-fly zone for drones. This means you cannot fly a drone anywhere in Tromsø. Exemptions exist only for licensed professional operators. Local police confiscate drones regularly; NRK and local newspapers report new cases almost weekly. Fines start at around 15,000 kroner, and tourists have been expelled from Norway for it. If you brought a drone, keep it in your bag while on Tromsøya and save it for Sommarøy or the Lyngen Alps, where you are outside the airport zone.
