Storslett, known as Hánssagieddi in Northern Sami and Hansinkenttä in Kven, is the main town of Nordreisa municipality. It sits where the Reisaelva river meets Reisafjorden, serving as the gateway to Reisa National Park inland. Every building in Storslett was burned to the ground in 1944. As German forces retreated south toward the Lyngen Line, they carried out a scorched-earth campaign across Finnmark and northern Troms, destroying everything that could shelter the advancing Soviet army. Storslett was rebuilt entirely from scratch after liberation, which is why the town feels modern and uniform compared to its dramatic natural setting. The Halti cultural center houses the North Troms Museum, tourist information, and a national park visitor center, making it a natural stop before heading upriver. Guided riverboat trips run from Storslett up the Reisaelva toward Mollisfossen, a 269-meter waterfall deep inside the national park.
