Stokkvågen

30 minutes
Stokkvågen is a small village on the mainland coast of Lurøy municipality, about 60 kilometres west of Mo i Rana. It serves as the main ferry hub for the outer islands of northern Helgeland: from here, boats run to Onøya (the municipal centre of Lurøy), Lovund, Sleneset, and Træna.

Lurøy municipality itself is a scattered archipelago of nearly 2,000 inhabitants spread across hundreds of islands. The administrative centre is not on the mainland but on Onøya, one of the islands. The name Stokkvågen means "the log bay," likely referring to timber storage or a log-built harbour from earlier centuries. Today the village is quiet, with a shop, a fuel station, and a ferry terminal. If you are heading to Træna or Lovund, this is where you board.
