Along the Helgådalen valley road northeast of Vuku, the river Helgåa drops over 15 metres at Skjækerfossen. The waterfall is a natural rest stop with picnic tables and information boards right beside the road.

The spot has an industrial past. In 1881, a smelting hut with two furnaces was built here, using a water wheel in the waterfall to power the bellows. The hut served the copper mines at Malså further up the valley. When mining ceased in 1892, the smelting operation shut down with it.

Skjækerfossen also serves as an entry point to Blåfjella-Skjækerfjella National Park. A trail leads from here into the park's wild mountain terrain.
