Senjatrollet

Senjatrollet was the world's largest troll statue, standing at Finnsæter on the west side of Senja. It was built by local man Leif Rubach, who created an entire troll and fairy-tale park around it, with sculptures and tableaus inspired by local folklore. He would dress up as a troll himself and guide visitors through the park.

The troll burned down on 28 March 2019. A fire destroyed the main structure and much of the park. What remains is the site and some of the outdoor sculptures.

At the time of writing it is unclear whether Senjatrollet will be rebuilt. The site is still marked on maps and occasionally mentioned in tourist brochures, but there is currently nothing to visit.
