Nesøya: Oslo's Exclusive Island Enclave

Nesøya is an exclusive residential island that has become synonymous with luxury living in Norway. Connected to the mainland by a bridge, this 3.3-square-kilometer island is home to some of Norway's richest.

The island's history dates back to medieval times when it served as farmland, but it transformed into an exclusive suburb during the 20th century. Today, Nesøya maintains strict building regulations to preserve its natural beauty and exclusive character.

Nesøya is also home of Norway most mediatized neighour conflicts, which can drag on for years in courts, as both sides have the financial means to do that. In one case, one guy demolished half of his neighbour's garden shed, because he was convinced the property line was going through it, and thus half of the shed lies on his property. The verdict was pretty clear has the shed was not on his property.
