Nastadborgen is a castle built from scratch by one man, Svein Yngvar Dynge, in the hills west of Eggedal. Completed around 2021, the building recreates European castle architecture spanning the 12th to 18th centuries, with obsessive attention to historical detail in every room, from stonework and timber framing to the smallest fixtures and fittings. The result is a full-scale castle standing in the Norwegian forest, looking like it has been there for centuries.

Guided tours run about an hour for the standard visit, or two hours if you book a specialized tour with the builder himself, who can explain the construction techniques and historical references behind every choice. Groups of 10 to 16 can arrange a Friday evening tour with dinner. The castle sits about half an hour's drive west of Norefjell, on the road into Eggedal Vestfjell.
