Namsskogan Familiepark at Trones is the wildlife park in Norway with the most Nordic species, over 30, living in large natural enclosures carved out of the surrounding forest. The main draw is seeing all four large Scandinavian predators in one place: brown bear, grey wolf, wolverine and Eurasian lynx. A separate predator centre lets visitors watch feedings up close while guides explain the animals' behaviour. The park also keeps moose, red deer, otters, arctic foxes and musk oxen, and a children's farm with smaller animals. Beyond the wildlife, there is a 350-metre zip line, an alpine toboggan run, canoeing on Tronestjønna and bumper boats. For those who want to stay, five wooden tents sit right beside the bear and wolverine enclosures; guests sleep on reindeer skins and may wake to wolves howling in the early morning. The park sits right off the E6, roughly midway through the long empty stretch between Grong and the Nordland border. For families driving north, it is a welcome break and one of the most visited attractions in Trøndelag.
