Mokk is a traditional mountain farm on the Steinkjer side of the mountains, right at the edge of Blåfjella-Skjækerfjella National Park. Guided tours follow the same two-kilometre path that miners walked three centuries ago, climbing gradually into the mountains to reach copper mine shafts that have stood untouched since the mining days.
The tour takes you inside the old tunnels with flashlights. On a clear day, the views from the mine entrance stretch across to Steinkjer, Verdal, and the national park wilderness beyond. The walk back down passes through the farm itself, where the buildings and setting give a sense of how isolated mountain farming life was in this part of Trøndelag.
The trail from Mokk connects across the ridge to the Malså mines on the Verdal side, linking two mining sites that once worked the same copper-bearing rock from opposite directions.
