Minnesund Bridges

30 minutes
The Minnesund Bridges stand as impressive quadruple structures crossing the northern tip of Mjøsa, Norway's largest lake. These parallel bridges connect the municipalities of Stange and Eidsvoll, serving as vital transportation links along the E6 motorway whilst offering visitors spectacular views across the pristine freshwater expanse.

The older concrete arch bridge, completed in 1963, runs alongside its modern counterpart, creating a striking architectural contrast against the natural backdrop. From the bridges, visitors can admire the serene waters of Mjøsa stretching southward, framed by rolling hills and dense forests that characterise this region of Hedmark and Akershus counties.

The are also the old metal railway bridge whcih was used until 2023, when the new concrete double track bridge opened. Which makes a total of four bridges.

The area holds historical significance as a traditional crossing point, with Minnesund meaning "memory strait" in Old Norse. The location has served travellers for centuries, making it an important waypoint between Oslo and the northern regions.
Photographers particularly appreciate the bridges during golden hour, when the structures create dramatic silhouettes against the water. The surrounding shoreline offers walking paths and picnic spots, making this an ideal stopping point for those exploring the Mjøsa region. The combination of engineering achievement and natural beauty makes Minnesund Bridges a noteworthy landmark for visitors travelling through central Norway.
