In a basement near Kvadraturen, the Mini Bottle Gallery houses the world's largest collection of miniature bottles. Of the total collection of 53,000 bottles, about 12,500 are on display across three floors in 50 different themed installations. The gallery opened in 2003 and is the creation of one dedicated collector who spent decades amassing tiny bottles from all over the world.

The bottles range from commercial miniatures of well-known spirits to bizarre handmade curiosities, novelty shapes and vintage specimens going back over a century. The installations are creative and often humorous; this is not a museum that takes itself too seriously. The whole visit feels like stepping into someone's wonderfully obsessive hobby that got completely out of hand.

The gallery is open only on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 to 16:00, so you need to plan ahead. It is one of those quirky, unexpected places that no one expects to find in Oslo, and visitors who stumble upon it tend to enjoy it far more than they anticipated.
