Lunde is a small town along the Telemarkskanalen, often called the canal town. It sits where the canal meets lake Flåvatn and is a popular starting point for canal boat trips.
The Lunde Slusepark is built around the lock system and has been developed into a park with walking paths, play areas, seating, and barbecue spots. It is a pleasant place to stop and watch boats pass through the locks, especially in summer when the canal boats run regularly between here and Akkerhaugen.
Lunde is also a railway stop on the Bratsbergbanen line. The town has a few thousand residents and basic services. From here, it is a short drive to Vrangfoss, the canal's largest lock system, and to Bø further north.
