The road to Kjenndalsbreen follows the full length of Lake Lovatnet, 16 kilometres from Loen. It is a beautiful drive, mostly flat, and popular with cyclists. A few kilometres from Loen you pass Breng Seter, an old summer farm and one of the most photographed spots in the valley.

At the inner end there is Kjenndalstova, a café where you can rent canoes. You can also take the tourist boat MS Kjenndal II from Sande instead of driving.

From Kjenndalstova the road continues to a viewpoint for the glacier. Unfortunately, it is a disappointment. The glacier is about a kilometre away, high up on the mountainside. In 1997 it reached within 600 metres of the parking area. Today it is far away. Like Briksdal, the retreat has been dramatic.
