Keipen (1,362 m) is the most popular summit hike in Bremanger and one of the signature peaks above Svelgen. The mountain has even given its name to the local hiking club, Keipen Turlag.
The T-marked trail starts from Sørdalstrappa, a trailhead along Riksveg 614 about 6 kilometres from Svelgen. The route is steep throughout, requiring good fitness, but the reward at the top is a panoramic view spanning the Ålfotbreen glacier, the outer coast, and the surrounding peaks. From Keipen, experienced hikers can continue along the ridge to Plogen and other nearby summits.
The best season is May through September. Despite its height and steepness, the trail is well-marked and heavily used; this is the mountain the locals are proud of.
