Glittersjå was an educational mountain farm in Murudalen where visitors could get close to moose, reindeer, and other Norwegian animals. The farm was run by Helge and Hege Nordskar for 15 years, and during that time it became one of the region's most popular family attractions, drawing 10,000 to 12,000 visitors each summer.

The main attraction was the tame moose. Helge had hand-reared them from birth, living with the calves in a small cabin and bottle-feeding them so they would imprint on him. The result was moose that visitors could feed and approach without fear, something almost impossible with wild animals.

Unfortunately, the farm closed to tourists at the end of August 2025. The owners, now in their seventies, tried to sell the property but found no buyers with the right combination of knowledge, resources, and commitment to continue what they had built. They decided to stay on the farm themselves but end the tourist operation. The animals are being rehomed gradually.

The name Glittersjå comes from the view of Glittertind, Norway's second highest mountain, which can be seen from the farm. On clear days, you can actually see seven peaks over 2,000 metres from here.

If you're driving through Murudalen, you'll still pass the distinctive buildings painted in the colours of cloudberries and heather. But you can no longer visit.
