Flakstad Beach

20 minutes
Flakstad Beach, also known as Skagsanden, is a wide sandy beach right next to the E10 on Flakstadøya. Unlike many Lofoten beaches that require a hike, this one is accessible directly from the road. Just park and walk down.

The beach is popular for photography, particularly in winter when the northern lights reflect off wet sand at low tide. The Flakstad Church, a distinctive red wooden building from 1780, sits nearby and adds to the setting. Behind the beach, steep mountains rise sharply, creating the dramatic backdrop that makes Lofoten beaches look unlike beaches anywhere else.
