Just 200 metres south of Låtefossen is another waterfall that most people drive straight past. Espelandsfossen drops 84 metres in two stages, with enough force that spray regularly hits the road.
It is easy to miss because Låtefossen gets all the attention. But if you stop at the Låtefossen car park, you can walk back along the road and see Espelandsfossen from close up. There is also a path from the Låtefossen parking area that climbs up the eastern side of the valley. From there you get an elevated view looking back towards Espelandsfossen, photographing towards the west.
The waterfall shares its name with another Espelandsfossen near Voss. Both are fed by glacier meltwater, both are impressive, and both are easily overlooked.
