Alnes Lighthouse sits on the island of Giske, about 20 minutes drive from Ålesund. This working lighthouse has been guiding ships through these waters for over a century. The red and white tower isn't particularly tall, but the location gives you excellent views across the coastal islands and back towards the mainland mountains.
The Norwegian Coastal Administration has added special lighting here to help teach people about maritime navigation. It's often included on sightseeing tours from Ålesund along with the medieval church on Giske.
The lighthouse itself is worth seeing if you enjoy these coastal landmarks, though it's quite small compared to others along the coast.
