Volandstinden has earned a reputation as the quieter alternative to Reinebringen, offering views that many hikers consider equally dramatic but with a fraction of the crowds. The distinctive shark-fin summit rises 457 metres above Flakstadøya's western coast, looking directly down onto the famous Fredvang bridges and the white-sand beaches below.
The trail starts near Fredvang village and climbs steadily, with some steeper sections and loose rock near the top. Allow three to four hours for the round trip. The final approach to the summit ridge rewards with sweeping views across Ramberg beach, the open Norwegian Sea, and the mountainous spine of Moskenesøya further south.
