Skaget sits at 1685 metres in Langsua National Park. This park is much quieter than its famous neighbour Jotunheimen. Most tourists skip it completely, which is honestly quite nice for those who do make the effort.

The hike starts from Storeskag cabin. To get there, turn off Road 51 at Heggenes and follow signs to Langsua Nasjonalpark. You'll hit a toll road where you can pay by card. The gravel road leads straight to the cabin.

The trail takes about two hours up and ninety minutes down. It's marked with cairns, not paint blazes. Please don't mess with these stone piles - they're essential for navigation. Fill your water bottle at the cabin because there's no water along the route.

The path has two sections. First, moderate climbing through grassland to Nasen plateau. Then scrambling over scree and bare rock to the summit. The second bit requires careful route-finding. From the top you'll see Bitihorn, Besseggen, and Vinstre lake. It's a proper 360-degree view and usually deserted.
