Sigdal Kjøkken has been producing kitchens in the small village of Nedre Eggedal since 1950. Founded by Alf Rust and his friend Harald Biksrud, the company started from a simple idea: every Norwegian deserved a nice, modern kitchen. Their solution was factory-built kitchens that combined high quality with easy assembly. More than 75 years later, the factory still operates in the same valley, employing around 160 people in a municipality of just 3,500 residents. Multiple generations have worked here, fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, creating what staff call the Sigdalsånden (the Sigdal spirit), a deep pride in craftsmanship. The factory produces custom kitchens shipped across Norway through its own distribution network. An in-house paint workshop can mix any colour a customer brings in, far beyond the 18 standard options. The modular design means kitchens arrive as ready-to-assemble units, keeping quality consistent while letting homeowners install them themselves. Since 1996, Sigdal Kjøkken has been part of Nobia, Europe's leading kitchen manufacturer. Production has stayed local, keeping transport distances short and maintaining the close connection to customers that defined the brand from its earliest days.
