Rjoandefossen

💧 Waterfall Valley Sognefjord

Rjoandefossen

60 minutes
About 3 kilometres up the valley from Flåm, Rjoandefossen tumbles down the eastern valley side, opposite the railway line. It's a three-tiered waterfall with a total height of around 241 metres - the main visible drop is about 140 metres. The highland plateau of Viddalsfjellet rises behind it.

The train doesn't stop here, but it passes slowly enough to get a good view across the river. Many waterfall enthusiasts rate it as impressive as the more famous Kjosfossen. It has good flow year-round thanks to highland lakes above, and the water volume increases noticeably after rain.
