Norsk Tindesenter in Åndalsnes opened in 2016 as a combined museum, climbing center and gateway to the surrounding peaks. The Norwegian Mountaineering Museum inside traces the history of alpine exploration in Romsdalen, from early Victorian-era ascents to modern big-wall climbing. Norway's second-tallest indoor climbing wall rises 21 meters through the building, open to visitors from age three upward. The center also serves as the visitor hub for Reinheimen National Park and as a booking point for guided activities including the Romsdalsstigen Via Ferrata and SUP trips on the Istra River.
